Occult figure in Istambul
The Duc des Esseintes, or the Frenchman as he is known in the occult circles in Istambul, is a clearly dangerous figure. He is rumoured to be a most powerful sorcerer, a manipulator of thoughts and dreams and a frequent visitor to the high society of the capital. Little is known about his past.
In 1893, he lives in a lavish palatial mansion in the noble quarters of the Galata, in the european part of the city. The investigators meet him inquiring about the Children of the Fez. The Frenchman tells them that he was Nisra's tutor in the dark arts, and that she abandonded him after deciding to take dangerous shortcuts to true power.
